Do you support our mission? We are always looking for great volunteers to help us, and our authors grow. Take a look at our available positions and fill out an application.

Currently, all volunteers are hired on for both Metamorphose Magazine and Metamorphose Press and will be potentially working on the magazine, small press, and indie services.

All positions are strictly volunteer (unpaid) unless otherwise noted. Applicants may have the opportunity to earn a percentage of income for paid services rendered through Metamorphose Press. However, this income is not guaranteed upon employment.

Associate Editor

Metamorphose is seeking volunteer Associate Editors to act as a liaison in the publication process. The position requires a minimum of 5-10 volunteer hours per week.

The role of the Associate Editor is to help the editor deal with the increasing demands from writers and the public.

Associate Editors help with external communication, submissions, editing, blog content, book reviews, social media, and more.

This is a telecommuting job requiring regular Skype meetings with the senior editor, and occasional Skype meetings with other members of the Metamorphose staff.

We are about helping those with interest SFF to grow into their career as much as authors, so all of our positions are open to qualified entry-level applicants.

  • supporting editorial staff in all activities leading to publication;
  • liaising with other in-house teams, writers, printers, designers and production staff to negotiate and monitor timescales for projects;
  • dealing with the administration of work commissioned to freelance writers and illustrators;
  • editing stories according to the in-house style guide;
  • occasionally obtaining rights to use materials from other publications;
  • proofing, editing and writing online content;
  • assisting w/ social media;
  • uploading text/images to a website using WordPress;
  • assessing submissions/making recommendations to senior editorial staff;
  • occasionally updating and rewriting material;
  • assisting with outreach to authors and publishing professionals;
  • assisting with the art direction and design of publications.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Publishing, English, Communication, Media or Journalism;
  • excellent writing and verbal skills;
  • strong grasp of grammar, punctuation, and word usage;
  • meticulous, organized worker with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines and work under pressure, as well as pay attention to detail;
  • experience with InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Word’s Track Changes tool is a plus;
  • experience with promotion on social media is a plus;
  • background in WordPress publishing is a plus.

Media/Marketing Coordinator

Metamorphose is seeking media and marketing professionals. The position requires a minimum of 5-10 hours per week.

The role of the Media/Marketing Coordinator is to handle correspondence regarding marketing and media requests, as well as plan book promotions and schedule social media updates. They will also occasionally write content for the blog regarding book marketing and social media.

  • Create/maintain connections between Metamorphose authors and readers;
  • Create content for our blog;
  • Coordinate outreach to authors and publishing professionals;

  • Handle incoming requests from the media, booksellers, book groups, rights and permissions, and more;
  • Field marketing questions from current authors;
  • Assist with fundraising promotion when necessary;
  • Spearhead market analysis for Metamorphose;
  • Learn to develop and manage Facebook/GoogleAd marketing campaigns.

Fundraising Coordinator

Metamorphose is seeking a self-motivated Fundraising Coordinator to take us into the next phase of growth. The position requires 10-20 hours per week.

Due to our expansion in the coming years, we are eager to bring on new sales and fundraisers to fund our continual growth. To meet goals, we are searching for motivated individuals to bring in new donors and expand our business-to-business relationships.

This is a telecommuting job requiring regular Skype meetings with the editors, and occasional Skype meetings with other members of the Metamorphose staff.

Compensation: 10% commission

  • Source new leads and secure personal and corporate donations through proactive approaches (face-to-face and phone meetings, fundraising events, active networking, etc.);
  • Comprehensive understanding of how to analyze donation needs of business and personal donors;
  • Active contribution to our growth and sales strategies;
  • Delivery of results against set objectives;
  • Maintain donor relationships through open communication, donor gifts, and other PR activities.
  • Highly motivated and self-disciplined with ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Prefer two years of sales experience in publishing, but exceptions can be made for candidates with exceptional promise (We love discovering promise!);
  • Outgoing personality with exceptional skills in developing relationships, particularly with business owners, presidents, and CEO’s;
  • Exemplary communications skills with ability to present ideas and pitches to small and large groups;
  • Prior experience with generating sales and leads independently is a plus;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, or Public Relations is preferred, but a candidate will be considered if he/she has outstanding skill, drive, and potential;

Publishing Intern

Metamorphose is seeking Publishing interns. The position requires 5-15 hours per week.

The role of the Publishing intern is to help the editorial team deal with the increasing demands from writers and the public.

Typical seasonal interns assist with (but are not limited to):

Summer Interns: Assist with selection of stories for Metamorphose Magazine and novels for Metamorphose Press

Fall Interns: Assist in the creative creation of Metamorphose Magazine and Metamorphose Press novels (interns will be awarded editing credit in print if your internship is part of editing)

Spring Interns: Assist w/ fundraising and marketing

  • Access to InDesign and Photoshop
  • Access to a reliable internet connection
  • Experience with and access to Microsoft Word Track Changes tool
  • English or Journalism undergraduate junior or senior
  • Experience working with the WordPress dashboard is a plus
  • Exemplary communications skills with ability to present ideas and pitches to small and large groups
  • Grant Writing knowledge or experience is a plus
  • Highly motivated and self-disciplined with ability to work with minimal supervision

Marketing Intern

Metamorphose is seeking motivated Marketing interns. The position requires 5-15 hours per week.

The role of the Marketing interns is to help the editors deal with the increasing demands from writers and the public. As a Marketing intern, you have the noble duty of making connections for our writers that can help them find a path to success. Our interns work with the Senior Editor and Marketing Coordinator(s) to gain experience in marketing before entering the workforce.

Marketing interns help with lead generation, SEO enhancement, digital marketing, social media marketing, inbound marketing, and more. Interns also produce content for our blog.
